Helping to accelerate the transition to a zero carbon economy

Why Rewild?

Rewild was inspired by the notion that it is no longer enough for organisations to just do less harm. We have reached a moment where all of us have a responsibility to do better – to create positive social and environmental outcomes while doing business – to regenerate the ecosystems within which we operate.

We are in business to help make the world a better place. There is no doubt that in many instances globally, it is the private sector who is driving the much needed change toward a decarbonised economy, while innovating to find creative business models and solutions that balance people, planet and profit.

Hence we believe this shift is much needed within the realm of sustainability in business. While being a sustainability consultancy, we see sustainability as often being a design challenge and therefore use research, creativity and strategic design to inform our approach. This helps the organisations we work with to identify a wide range of possibilities to use their operations to do good – and also influence others to do better.

rewild'

/riːˈwʌɪld/ verb

Restore (an area of land) to its natural uncultivated state (used especially with reference to the reintroduction of species of wild animal that have been driven out or exterminated).

Our process

A systems approach

We use a systems thinking approach with each project we undertake to first understand the entirety of an organisation’s parts and the unique challenges and opportunities that it presents.

This ensures there is visibility over the end-to-end value chain, which enables us to better develop and prioritise solutions that have the potential to achieve significant and lasting impact. This approach continues through to our work with life cycle assessments (LCA’s), stakeholder engagement and recommendations for moving to more circular business models that can have valuable social, environmental and financial benefits for all stakeholders.

Using strategic design to solve sustainability challenges

We use elements of Human Centred Design (HCD) and Design Thinking to generate informed ideas and solutions that are effective for – and inclusive of – the end-user(s) of each product or service we work with.

We see sustainability as being intrinsically linked with all facets of an organisation, hence our approach is to ensure sustainability is embedded across each organisation we work with. This involves achieving buy-in from all stakeholders within the business and ensuring that any solutions proposed, are ultimately of value to the organisation’s customers or end-users.

Understanding human behaviour

Whether it is with a product or service-based organisation, it is essential for us to consider the underlying human behaviour that has the potential to hinder or drive our proposed sustainability approach.

Our objective is to work with, not against, these behaviours to have the best chance of achieving the strategies we develop. We firmly believe that a detailed sustainability strategy and comprehensive reporting (if required) is not enough to be effective and achieve long-term sustainability targets. For this reason our approach focusses on the implementation and day-to-day behaviour of customers and/or staff who are essential to bring each strategy we develop to life.
